ZSM-5 Particle Size
ZSM-5 particle size ranges from 50 nm to 5 μm, controlled during hydrothermal synthesis. Particle size affects diffusion, activity, and application fit:
Nanocrystalline ZSM-5 (50–200 nm)
- Significantly reduced diffusion path length — less coke formation, longer catalyst life
- Higher external surface area for bulky molecule accessibility
- Our SMF-30n and SMF-60n are nanocrystalline grades
- Preferred for MTO catalysis and liquid-phase reactions
Submicron ZSM-5 (200–800 nm)
- Good balance of diffusion and handling characteristics
- Easier filtration and processing than nanocrystals
- Standard for most fixed-bed and slurry applications
Micron-scale ZSM-5 (1–5 μm)
- Best filtration and handling properties
- Preferred for catalyst shaping (extrudates, spheres)
- Standard for gas-phase fixed-bed processes
Particle size is measured by laser diffraction (D50). We can customize particle size within the 50 nm–5 μm range — specify your target D50 and distribution width when requesting a sample.
