ZSM-5 Si/Al Ratio Range
The current ZSM-5 catalogue covers SiO₂/Al₂O₃ approximately 20 to 1000, with a documented 1500+ specialty grade subject to confirmation. This range is divided into functional zones:
- Low Si/Al (20–50): High acid site density. Maximum catalytic activity for cracking and isomerization. Na₂O control is critical at these ratios.
- Medium Si/Al (50–300): The workhorse range for most catalytic applications. Balances activity with hydrothermal stability. Standard for FCC additives and MTO catalysis.
- High Si/Al (300–600): Moderate acidity with improved shape selectivity. Preferred for isomerization and the production of para-substituted products.
- Ultra-high Si/Al (600-1000 standard; 1500+ specialty): Low acid site density and high hydrophobicity for VOC adsorption, odor control, and applications requiring minimal catalytic side reactions.
Our ZSM-5 product hub lists grades across this full range including SMF-30n (~30), SMF-60n (~60), SMF-150s (~150), SMF-200s (~200), SMF-300s (~300), SMF-400s (~400), SMF-600s (~600), and SMF-1500s (~1500).
Key point: Si/Al ratio is the single most important parameter for ZSM-5 selection. It determines acid site density, which in turn governs catalytic activity, selectivity, and deactivation rate. Specify your target Si/Al when requesting a sample.
