Application Note: Beta for Hydrocracking
Beta zeolite provides the large-pore acidity needed for hydrocracking heavy feedstocks.

Why Beta for Hydrocracking
Beta’s 12-MR 3D pore system provides better accessibility for bulky feed molecules than medium-pore zeolites. In bifunctional hydrocracking catalysts, the zeolite supplies acid cracking sites while the metal component provides hydrogenation-dehydrogenation. Beta is often paired with USY in layered catalyst systems — USY for bulk conversion, Beta for activity toward larger molecules.
