Fe-SSZ-13 Zeolite Catalyst
Fe-SSZ-13 is the iron-exchanged form of the SSZ-13 zeolite (CHA framework), engineered for high-temperature and sulfur-tolerant SCR of NOx. Where Cu-SSZ-13 excels at low temperatures, Fe-SSZ-13 delivers its peak activity at 350-550 °C and retains a higher fraction of initial activity in exhaust containing significant SO₂ — the combination that makes it the preferred catalyst for marine and high-sulfur stationary applications.
What is Fe-SSZ-13?
Fe-SSZ-13 is produced by iron exchange of the SSZ-13 zeolite. Iron occupies exchange sites within the CHA framework, where it drives NOx reduction through a redox cycle that differs from copper: iron sites are more active at elevated temperature and more resistant to sulfur poisoning, at the cost of lower low-temperature activity.

Precursor H-form and NH₄-form SSZ-13 (SAR 6-30) is available for customers performing their own iron exchange — see the SSZ-13 product hub.
Applications
- Marine diesel SCR — residual fuel sulfur levels demand Fe’s superior SO₂ tolerance
- Stationary SCR (engines, boilers, gas turbines) — peak activity in the 350-550 °C window
- High-temperature NOx abatement where copper’s low-temperature advantage is not needed
