Fe-ZSM-5 Zeolite Catalyst

Fe-ZSM-5 is the iron-exchanged form of the ZSM-5 zeolite (MFI framework). Iron sites give the material exceptional activity for nitrous oxide (N₂O) decomposition, high-temperature SCR of NOx, and selective oxidation reactions. Fe-ZSM-5 combines the shape selectivity and hydrothermal stability of the MFI framework with redox chemistry that no aluminosilicate provides in its parent form.

What is Fe-ZSM-5?

Fe-ZSM-5 is produced by iron exchange of ZSM-5. Iron occupies exchange sites and, depending on preparation, forms small oxide clusters that are the active centres for N₂O decomposition and high-temperature DeNOx. The preparation route (ion exchange vs impregnation, calcination conditions) strongly affects the iron speciation and therefore the catalytic behaviour.
