Deiodination Adsorbent for Acetic Acid Purification
ZC-DIO-1 is a silver-loaded zeolite-based adsorbent designed for the removal of trace iodine from acetic acid produced via the carbonyl process. It combines high silver loading capacity with a hierarchical pore structure to deliver iodine removal from 100 ppb down to 5 ppb or lower — meeting the purity requirements for high-grade acetic acid, acetic anhydride, and vinyl acetate production.
The adsorbent uses a binder-free zeolite support with a well-developed hierarchical pore network that facilitates rapid diffusion of iodine-containing species to the active silver sites. Removal mechanisms include a combination of chemisorption, precipitation, complexation, and catalytic conversion, enabling effective capture of both organic iodine compounds and inorganic iodide ions.
Key Features
- Iodine reduction from ~ 100 ppb to ≤ 5 ppb in treated acetic acid
- High silver loading capacity (≥ 7 wt%, up to 10 wt%+)
- Hierarchical pore structure for fast diffusion of iodine species
- Effective against organic iodine, inorganic iodide ions, and elemental iodine
- High mechanical strength (≥ 30 N/pellet) and acid resistance
- Regenerable — single-pass life ≥ 7 months, total life ≥ 2 years
- Also applicable to acetic anhydride and other acidic compounds
Typical Applications
- Purification of acetic acid from methanol carbonylation processes
- Production of high-purity acetic acid for vinyl acetate and acetate ester manufacturing
- Iodine removal from acetic anhydride and halogenated organic streams
- Custom process integration with optional process technology package
